Sad news.
Alton Ellis, the godfather of Rocksteady, passed away at the age of 70 in London over the weekend. There's not a damn more splendid tune to dance and remember the man by. Alton Ellis & Eddy Perkins - We're Going Rollin' (MP3)

It is very sad news that Bo Diddley has past away. He was an absolute treasure of a musician and without him music would be completely different.
My absolute favorite Diddley track - We're Gonna Get Married (1966) It'll get you dancing like nothing else. It's only downside is that you should hesitate before putting it on that mixtape you're giving to the cute girl you like at the coffee shop. She'll think you're moving a little too fast perhaps.

Very sad news today. The lead singer of one of the greatest bands in rock history has left us. Arthur Lee died in Memphis Thursday. His band Love is considered by many to be an influential catalyst for the West coast sound of the late 1960's. The number of creative people his music influenced is incalculable.
Several of my favorite Love songs are below. Peace and love to the soul of Arthur Lee. Love - A House is Not a Motel [1967] Love - Stephanie Knows Who [1967] Love - Hey Joe [1966]

Take a moment today to think fondly of the pioneer of the Bakersfield country sound.
